Brian Rossetti

Growing up in country Victoria and playing on asphalt outdoor and concrete indoor courts inspired Brian to make a 45 year commitment as a player, coach and administrator to basketball in Australia.

His passion for the game and coaching young athletes is evidenced by his coaching resume which includes:

Monash University Mens Intervarsity Coach 1994 -1996, Blackburn Vikings Boys U12/1 VJBL Coach 1996 – 1998, Blackburn Vikings Boys U14/1 VJBL Coach 1998 – 2000, Blackburn Vikings Boys U16/1 VJBL Coach 2001, Blackburn Vikings Girls U14/1 VJBL Coach 2002,Blackburn Vikings Boys U16/1 VJBL Coach 2003 – 2005, Blackburn Vikings Boys U20/1 VJBL Coach 2006 – VJBL 2 Champions, Blackburn Vikings Boys U18/1 VJBL Championship Coach 2006 – 2009, Big V Division 2 Womens Assistant Coach 2004 – 2006, Big V Division 2 Mens Coach 2007 – 2009, Melbourne Tigers Boys U16/2 Coach 2016, Melbourne Tigers Boys U12/1 Assistant Coach 2017, Blackburn Vikings Boys U14/2 Coach 2017, Blackburn Vikings Boys U14/3 Coach 2018.

 

His playing and coaching achievements are as impressive:

West Gippsland Warriors 1973 – 1977 – Country Week representative, Monash University 1976 – 2001 - games holder (1,300), Half Blue Monash University 1981, Full Blue 1983, All Australian Intervarsity Team 1983 and Big V Division 2 Coach of the Year 2007.

He is also Life Member of Blackburn Vikings after 22 years of service to the club including 10 as President. He has also served on the Big V & VJBL Boards which has resulted in an impressive array of networks within the sport.

His NBA passion lies with the LA Lakers which was sparked when he stumbled across a biography on Kareem Abdul-Jabber at the school library. He still loves the Showtime era when centres dominated the game.
